Digital Arts and New Media MFA Program at UC Santa Cruz

Applications for Fall 2010 accepted now through February 15, 2010

The Digital Arts and New Media MFA program at the University of California, Santa Cruz is now accepting applications for Fall 2010.

Prospective students are encouraged to join us for an Open House from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoon, October 22, 2009. Attendees will have a chance to learn about the program and the application process, see a showcase of our project groups' work in progress, view the work of current students and faculty, and meet the DANM community. The event will be held in UCSC's new Digital Arts Research Center. Visit http://danm.ucsc.edu/web/OpenHouse2009

Immediately following the open house is the opening of The Art of Collaboration–a two-day interdisciplinary symposium investigating collaboration as a key concept in contemporary art and creative production. Open house attendees are invited to stay for part or all of this free event. Symposium information and registration is available at http://danm.ucsc.edu/web/collaboration

This two-year MFA program brings together faculty and students from across the academic spectrum to pursue interdisciplinary artistic and scholarly research. The diverse curriculum includes collaborative research project groups, where small clusters of students work with professors on artistic, technical and theoretical research in one of four focused areas: Mechatronics, Participatory Culture, Performative Technologies, and Playable Media. These collaborations result in publications and exhibitions.

Students also take core and elective courses in the theory and practice of digital media arts that support the development of individual thesis projects that are premiered in the program's annual MFA Exhibition.

Information on the program and application process is available at our website: http://danm.ucsc.edu For further inquiries, contact Felicia Rice, Program Manager, fsrice@ucsc.edu.
